Call for Abstracts
2009 Annual Scientific Meeting
November 6-7, 2009
Site: DoubleTree Paradise Valley Resort, Scottsdale, AZ
GUIDELINES FOR RESIDENTS
1. Abstracts are open to any surgery resident in the State of Arizona.
2. Research must have not previously published.
3. Subject material for the research can include all subjects (clinical or basic research) trauma and critical care.
4. Abstract format: One 8 ½ x 11” page; margins = 1 ½”; double spaced.
A. Title of the abstract
B. Names of all authors with the presenter underlined.
C. Institution and department from which the abstract is being submitted.
5. Format the body of the abstract according to the following guidelines.
A. Introduction
B. Methods
C. Results
D. Conclusions
6. Please do NOT include any statements in the body of the abstract that would allow the identification of the authors or institution.
7. Submit the abstract by e-mail (weilanddj@aol.com) or by FAX (480-767-6652)
8. Please submit your e-mail address as winners will be notified by that e-mail.
9. Deadline for the electronic submission of abstracts is 15 September, 2009.
10. The selected abstracts will be presented on November 7, 2009.
AWARDS
First Prize: $500
Second Prize: $300
Third Prize: $200
Note: The journal, American Surgeon, is very interested in having award winning abstracts submitted to the journal for consideration of publication. Please consider this if your abstract is accepted and is an award winner.
GUIDELINES FOR MEDICAL STUDENTS
Medical students are invited to participate in the annual AzACS meeting. Abstracts (using the instructions above) must be submitted by September 1, 2009. Abstracts will be reviewed by a panel of surgeons and three chosen to be presented. There will no monetary award but the participants are invited to submit their papers to the American Surgeon for possible publication.
